About

I live in a crowded terraced house in St Werburghs, Bristol with my husband, three children and the dog. I work wherever and whenever I can but have a workshop and studio in the countryside, just midway between Bristol and Bath where my kiln lives. My ceramics are all hand-sculpted earthenware with underglazes, glazes and sometimes lustres. 

Growing up with lots of animals and an interest in nature, I'm inspired by the world around us. I really enjoy the fun and friendship of unlikely pairings of creatures. I'm slightly obsessed by bears of all kinds, polar bears probably feature the most. Like many people I fear the loss of many animal species and comparing this to the permanence of the fired ceramics poses interesting thoughts about legacy. I'm lucky to have collectors of my ceramics all over the world, Europe, USA, Japan, Mexico, Australia and even a polar bear research post in Alaska!

I'm influenced by different artworks from all over the world, the Japanese idea of Kawaii, Inuit sculpture and book Illustration. A sense of humour is often present in my work (and in life) and I hope this means the work brings moments of joy to the owner while provoking thought. 

I divide my time between ceramics, family and my framing/ gallery business. Any spare time I can wangle is spent cooking or growing things outdoors, often with a large gin & tonic...
